(Two year program for students in grades 11 & 12 - 3 high school credits for first year/4 high school credits second year) The automotive service technology program provides training in the repair and troubleshooting of cars and light trucks. Students learn to use tools and equipment to diagnose and repair problems in engines, suspensions, exhaust, transmission, and electrical systems. The program at Giles Tech Center is ASE certified in 5 of 8 areas. The program is articulated with New River Community College with 4 credits awarded for AUT 101 - Introduction to Automotive Systems if the student completes the class with at least a B average and enrolls into the Automotive training program at New River Community College. Students may take the ASE certification exams after completion of the program.
